Common mistakes with aramak

  • Incorrect: Sana yarın ararım.Seni yarın ararım.

    Aramak takes a direct object in the accusative (-(y)i / -(y)ı / -(y)u / -(y)ü): Seni yarın ararım. = "I'll call you tomorrow". Learn the rule →

  • Incorrect: arayorumarıyorum

Before -yor the final a of ara- changes to a narrow vowel: arıyorum. In other tenses it stays: aradım, arayacağım. Learn the rule →

  • arar

Vowel stems simply add -r in the aorist: arar, ararım. Don't mix up arar (habit: "he/she looks for") with arıyor (right now: "he/she is looking for"). Learn the rule →
