How do you write numbers in Turkish words?↓
Turkish numbers are formed by placing the words in descending order (billions, millions, thousands, hundreds, tens, ones). For example: 1,984 is 'bin dokuz yüz seksen dört'. Note that 100 is simply 'yüz' (never 'bir yüz') and 1,000 is 'bin' (never 'bir bin').
How are Turkish ordinal numbers formed?↓
Ordinal numbers add the suffix -(i)nci / -(ı)ncı / -(u)ncu / -(ü)ncü based on 4-way vowel harmony. If the number ends in a vowel (like iki, altı, yedi), the initial vowel of the suffix drops (ikinci, altıncı, yedinci). Also note that 4 (dört) mutates into 'dördüncü'.
How do you say prices and currency in Turkish?↓
Prices combine the integer part followed by 'Türk Lirası' (or 'TL') and the decimal fraction followed by 'Kuruş'. For example: 25.50 TL is 'Yirmi beş Türk Lirası elli Kuruş'.
What are distributive numbers in Turkish?↓
Distributive numbers express 'each' or 'by groups' (e.g., two by two, three each). They are formed with -(ş)ar / -(ş)er: birer (one each), ikişer (two each), beşer (five each).
