Core vocabulary by CEFR level
Three decks of 100 words each, with no overlap: the words you need first at A1, the daily-life vocabulary of A2, and the abstract words and connectors that mark a B1 speaker.
A1 Core 100
The first 100 words every beginner needs: pronouns, question words, everyday nouns, adjectives and verbs, each with a short example sentence.

Topic decks
Focused sets for real situations: meeting people, shopping for food, seeing a doctor, finding your way. Two decks are generated from our tested grammar engine and show every case form or key tense.
How spaced repetition helps you remember Turkish words
You forget new words on a predictable curve: most of what you read today is gone within a few days unless you meet it again. Spaced repetition beats that curve by reviewing each word at the moment you are about to lose it. Each successful recall pushes the next review further out, so a well-known word might come back after three weeks while a tricky one keeps returning until it sticks.
The player on each deck page uses the classic Leitner box method, which works the same way with paper index cards. It is simple enough that you always know why a card is in front of you, and it keeps each session short: everything that is due, plus up to 20 new cards.
Turkish rewards this approach because so much meaning sits in suffixes. When you learn kitap together with kitabı and kitapta, or gitmek with gidiyor, each review strengthens a pattern you will reuse with hundreds of other words. For the rules themselves, see the grammar handbook or our printable cheat sheets.
The five boxes
- Box 1Review same session
- Box 2Review next day
- Box 3Review after 3 days
- Box 4Review after 7 days
- Box 5Review after 21 days · mastered
Know moves a card up one box. Again sends it back to box 1, and it comes round again a few cards later in the same session.
Using Anki or another flashcard app?
Every deck page has a Download for Anki button. It creates a tab-separated import file with five fields (Turkish, English, Example TR, Example EN, Tags) and header lines that tell Anki how to read it, so importing takes three clicks: File › Import, choose the file, Import. A CSV download with grammar notes is available too, for spreadsheets, Quizlet and other apps.
Turkish flashcards: FAQ
Are these Turkish flashcards free?
Yes. All 15 decks and their 785 cards are free to study online and free to download for personal use as an Anki import file or CSV. No account is needed; your progress is stored in your own browser.
What is spaced repetition and why does it work?
Spaced repetition shows you a word again just before you are likely to forget it. Each successful recall makes the memory more durable, so the gaps between reviews can grow from a day to several weeks. You spend your time on the words you find hard instead of re-reading the ones you already know.
How does the Leitner system on this site work?
Every card moves through five boxes. Answer "Know" and it moves up one box; answer "Again" and it goes back to box 1 and reappears a few cards later. Box 1 cards repeat in the same session, then boxes 2–5 come back after 1, 3, 7, 21 days. A card in box 5 counts as mastered.
Which deck should I start with?
Complete beginners should start with A1 Core 100 and Greetings & Courtesy, then add Numbers and Days, Months & Time. If you already know the basics, take the free level test to see whether A2 or B1 vocabulary is the right next step.
How do I import the decks into Anki?
Open a deck, click "Download for Anki", then in Anki choose File › Import and select the .txt file. Header lines in the file set the tab separator, the five columns (Turkish, English, Example TR, Example EN, Tags) and the deck name, so you only need to pick a note type such as "Basic (and reversed card)".
