Top 50 Turkish Verbs Flashcards with Key Tense Forms

These are the 50 highest-ranked verbs in TurkLogic's verb list, the ones that turn up in almost every conversation: olmak, etmek, yapmak, gelmek, gitmek, almak and vermek lead the way. Knowing them well gives you the backbone of thousands of sentences, because Turkish builds many more verbs by combining a noun with etmek, yapmak or olmak (yardım etmek, kahvaltı yapmak, mezun olmak).

Every card shows the third-person forms in four key tenses, so you learn the stem changes together with the meaning: gitmek becomes gidiyor and gidecek, yemek becomes yiyor, and gelmek has the irregular aorist gelir instead of 'geler'. All forms come from TurkLogic's tested conjugation engine, the same one behind the verb conjugator.

How to import into Anki

  1. Download turklogic-verbs-top-50-anki.txt with the button on the left.
  2. Open Anki on your computer (2.1.55 or newer) and choose File › Import.
  3. Select the file. Anki reads the header lines automatically: tab separator, plain text, five columns, tags in column 5 and the deck TurkLogic::Top 50 Verbs.
  4. Pick a note type. Basic (and reversed card) gives you TR → EN and EN → TR cards. Map Turkish to Front and English to Back; to see the examples, add two fields to the note type first and map Example TR and Example EN to them.
  5. Click Import, then sync to AnkiDroid or AnkiMobile to study on your phone.

AnkiDroid can import the same file directly: Deck list › ⋮ › Import.
