Turkish Days, Months, Seasons and Telling the Time Flashcards

Making plans in Turkish needs three small vocabularies: the days of the week (pazartesi to pazar), the months (ocak to aralık) and the words for parts of the day. This deck adds the relative expressions learners reach for constantly, such as geçen hafta (last week), gelecek hafta (next week) and öbür gün (the day after tomorrow).

The second half of the deck is telling the time. Turkish uses two patterns: saat üçü çeyrek geçiyor (it's quarter past three) to say what time it is, and saat üçü çeyrek geçe (at quarter past three) to say when something happens. Each clock card was generated with TurkLogic's tested number engine, so the case endings on the hour (üçü, beşe) are exactly right.

Download the deck for Anki

Prefer to study in Anki or another spaced-repetition app? Download all 49 cards as an Anki import file. Each note has five fields: Turkish, English, Example TR, Example EN and Tags (TurkLogic, the deck name and the CEFR level). The CSV version also includes the grammar notes and opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Quizlet or Memrise.

Free for personal study. Files are created on your device; nothing is uploaded.

How to import into Anki

  1. Download turklogic-days-months-time-anki.txt with the button on the left.
  2. Open Anki on your computer (2.1.55 or newer) and choose File › Import.
  3. Select the file. Anki reads the header lines automatically: tab separator, plain text, five columns, tags in column 5 and the deck TurkLogic::Days, Months & Time.
  4. Pick a note type. Basic (and reversed card) gives you TR → EN and EN → TR cards. Map Turkish to Front and English to Back; to see the examples, add two fields to the note type first and map Example TR and Example EN to them.
  5. Click Import, then sync to AnkiDroid or AnkiMobile to study on your phone.

AnkiDroid can import the same file directly: Deck list › ⋮ › Import.

Days, Months & Time flashcards: FAQ

Are Turkish days and months capitalised?

Only when they are part of a specific date, as in 29 Ekim 1923 or 14 Ekim 2026 Çarşamba. In ordinary sentences they are lower case: pazartesi görüşürüz, ocakta kar yağar.

What is the difference between çeyrek geçiyor and çeyrek geçe?

Geçiyor answers 'What time is it?' (Saat kaç? – Saat üçü çeyrek geçiyor). Geçe answers 'At what time?' (Saat kaçta? – Saat üçü çeyrek geçe). For 'to' the pair is var / kala: beşe çeyrek var, beşe çeyrek kala.

How do I study the Days, Months & Time flashcards?

Press the card (or Space) to see the answer, then choose Know or Again. Known cards move up through five Leitner boxes and come back after 1, 3, 7 and 21 days; missed cards return to box 1 and reappear a few cards later. Your progress is saved in this browser, and you can switch between TR → EN and EN → TR at any time.

Can I use the Days, Months & Time deck in Anki?

Yes. Use "Download for Anki" to get a tab-separated import file with all 49 cards, then choose File › Import in Anki. The file's header lines set the separator, columns, tags and deck name for you. A CSV version is also available for spreadsheets and other flashcard apps.
