The Turkish letters you can't find on an English keyboard

How to type Turkish letters on any device
Windows
- Add the Turkish Q keyboard (recommended): Settings › Time & language › Language & region › Add a language › Türkçe (or add "Turkish Q" as an extra keyboard under your current language). Switch layouts with Windows + Space.
- Where the letters are on Turkish Q (US key positions): ğ = [, ü = ], ş = ;, i = ', ı = I, ö = ,, ç = .
- Alt codes (hold Alt, type on the numeric keypad): ç Alt+0231, Ç Alt+0199, ö Alt+0246, Ö Alt+0214, ü Alt+0252, Ü Alt+0220. ğ, ş, ı and İ have no reliable Alt code on non-Turkish Windows — in Microsoft Word type the code and press Alt+X (011F ğ, 015F ş, 0131 ı, 0130 İ), or use the keyboard above and copy.
macOS
- Press and hold: on a US/UK layout, hold c, s, o, u or g and pick ç, ş, ö, ü or ğ from the pop-up (press its number). Option+C types ç directly.
- Turkish Q input source: System Settings › Keyboard › Text Input › Edit › + › Turkish › Turkish Q. Switch with the globe key or Control+Space. This gives you ı and İ on their own keys.
iPhone & iPad
- Settings › General › Keyboard › Keyboards › Add New Keyboard › Turkish (Türkçe Q). Tap the globe key to switch.
- On other layouts, long-press a letter to see accented versions — e.g. hold s for ş or u for ü.
Android

How do I type Turkish characters on Windows?
The most reliable way is to add the Turkish Q keyboard: Settings › Time & language › Language & region › add Türkçe (or add the Turkish Q keyboard to your current language), then switch layouts with Windows key + Space. Without it, Alt codes on the numeric keypad work for ç (Alt+0231), ö (Alt+0246) and ü (Alt+0252), but ğ, ş, ı and İ have no reliable Alt code — use this keyboard and copy the text instead.
How do I type Turkish letters on a Mac?

Why does Turkish have two letter i's?
Turkish has a dotted i (İ/i) and a dotless ı (I/ı), and they are different vowels: 'kır' (countryside) vs 'kir' (dirt). The capital of i is İ and the lowercase of I is ı, so use the Shift key on this keyboard (or the Turkish Q layout) to get the right capitals.
Can I fix Turkish text I typed without special letters?
Yes. Paste text such as 'cok guzel, tesekkurler' and press 'Fix ASCII → Turkish' to get 'çok güzel, teşekkürler'. The fixer uses a dictionary of common words and a few safe suffix patterns, so it is best-effort: unknown or ambiguous words (like su/şu) are left unchanged, and you can undo the fix.
