  • Two meanings of kısmın. kısmın is both "of the part" (genitive) and "your part" (possessive). kısmı is likewise both the object form and "his/her part". Rule →

Questions about kısım

What is the plural of kısım?

The plural of kısım ("part") is kısımlar. The plural suffix follows 2-way vowel harmony: the last vowel of kısım is ı, a back vowel, so it takes -lar. The plural then takes case endings: kısımları, kısımlarda, kısımlardan.

How do you say "to the part" in Turkish?

"To the part" is kısma, the dative case (-a). Similarly, "in / at the part" is kısımda (locative) and "from the part" is kısımdan (ablative).

Why is it kısmı and not kısımı?

Kısım belongs to a group of two-syllable nouns (mostly Arabic loans and body parts) whose second vowel drops when a vowel-initial suffix follows: kısmı, kısma, kısmım. With consonant-initial suffixes the vowel stays: kısımda, kısımlar.
