  • Incorrect: hissetiyorumhissediyorum

The final t of hisset- softens to d before a vowel: hissediyorum, hissedeceğim, hisseder — but it stays t before a consonant: hissettim, hissetmeliyim. Learn the rule →

Frequently asked questions

What is the past tense of hissetmek?

The definite past (-DI) of hissetmek is hissettim (I felt), hissettin, hissetti, hissettik, hissettiniz, hissettiler. The negative is hissetmedim (I did not feel), and the reported past is hissetmiş (he/she apparently felt).

Is hissetmek irregular?

Its endings are regular, but the stem changes: hisset- becomes hissed- before a vowel (hissediyorum, hissedeceğim, hisseder) and stays hisset- before a consonant (hissettim, hissetmeliyim). Only a few verbs soften like this: gitmek, etmek and its compounds, and tatmak. Its aorist hisseder also follows etmek rather than the -Ir rule for longer stems.

How do you say "I will feel" in Turkish?

"I will feel" is hissedeceğim. "I won't feel" is hissetmeyeceğim, and "Will you feel?" is hissedecek misin? For plans you have already made, Turkish also uses the present continuous: hissediyorum.
