Common mistakes with dinlemek

  • Incorrect: Bana dinle!Beni dinle!

Dinlemek takes a direct object in the accusative (-(y)i / -(y)ı / -(y)u / -(y)ü): Beni dinle! = "Listen to me". Learn the rule →

  • Incorrect: dinleyorumdinliyorum

Before -yor the final e of dinle- changes to a narrow vowel: dinliyorum. In other tenses it stays: dinledim, dinleyeceğim. Learn the rule →

  • dinler

Vowel stems simply add -r in the aorist: dinler, dinlerim. Don't mix up dinler (habit: "he/she listens") with dinliyor (right now: "he/she is listening"). Learn the rule →
