Ceket in example sentences

Watch out with ceket

  • This t does not soften. Unlike kitap → kitabı, ceket keeps its t: ceketi, cekete (not *cekedi). Loanwords and some native words are exceptions to the softening rule, so learn them as you meet them. Rule →
  • Locative with t, not d. After a voiceless consonant the locative and ablative start with t: cekette, ceketten (not *ceketde). Rule →
  • Two meanings of ceketin. ceketin is both "of the jacket" (genitive) and "your jacket" (possessive). ceketi is likewise both the object form and "his/her jacket". Rule →
