Bilet in example sentences

  • Konser biletlerini internetten aldım.

I bought the concert tickets online.

    Accusative case
  • Bir bilet kaç lira?

How many lira is a ticket?

  • Biletin fiyatı geçen yıla göre arttı.

The ticket price has gone up since last year.

Watch out with bilet

  • This t does not soften. Unlike kitap → kitabı, bilet keeps its t: bileti, bilete (not *biledi). Loanwords and some native words are exceptions to the softening rule, so learn them as you meet them. Rule →
  • Locative with t, not d. After a voiceless consonant the locative and ablative start with t: bilette, biletten (not *biletde). Rule →
  • Two meanings of biletin. biletin is both "of the ticket" (genitive) and "your ticket" (possessive). bileti is likewise both the object form and "his/her ticket". Rule →
