Questions about alkol

What is the plural of alkol?

The plural of alkol ("alcohol") is alkoller. Alkol is a loanword that takes front-vowel suffixes despite its last vowel o, so it is alkoller, not alkollar. The plural then takes case endings: alkolleri, alkollerde, alkollerden.

How do you say "to the alcohol" in Turkish?

"To the alcohol" is alkole, the dative case (-e). Similarly, "in / at the alcohol" is alkolde (locative) and "from the alcohol" is alkolden (ablative).

Why is it alkoller and not alkollar?

Alkol is a loanword whose final consonant was originally "soft" (palatal), so it takes front-vowel suffixes even though its last vowel is o: alkoller, alkolü, alkolde. Other examples are saat, kalp, rol and hal.
