Questions about kontrol

What is the plural of kontrol?

The plural of kontrol ("check") is kontroller. Kontrol is a loanword that takes front-vowel suffixes despite its last vowel o, so it is kontroller, not kontrollar. The plural then takes case endings: kontrolleri, kontrollerde, kontrollerden.

How do you say "to the check" in Turkish?

"To the check" is kontrole, the dative case (-e). Similarly, "in / at the check" is kontrolde (locative) and "from the check" is kontrolden (ablative).

Why is it kontroller and not kontrollar?

Kontrol is a loanword whose final consonant was originally "soft" (palatal), so it takes front-vowel suffixes even though its last vowel is o: kontroller, kontrolü, kontrolde. Other examples are saat, kalp, rol and hal.
