Watch out with saç

  • This ç does not soften. Unlike kitap → kitabı, saç keeps its ç: saçı, saça (not *sacı). Most one-syllable nouns behave this way. Rule →
  • Locative with t, not d. After a voiceless consonant the locative and ablative start with t: saçta, saçtan (not *saçda). Rule →
  • Two meanings of saçın. saçın is both "of the hair" (genitive) and "your hair" (possessive). saçı is likewise both the object form and "his/her hair". Rule →
